Train fares equal Airfares!

With the increasing demand for train ticket for Holi bookings, the train fare has shot up equalling those of airlines.

A
rise of 2.5 per cent to 3 per cent is being witnessed. As a result of
which a second AC ticket that costs around twenty five hundred could go
up to seven thousand or more if booked at the last minute.

The
motive is to earn extra twenty to thirty per cent revenue and so
instead of running special trains, the railways have introduced two
premium trains, namely Delhi- Mumbai and Delhi- Jammu Tawwi express
trains to run especially for the occasion.

The idea of running premium trains for seventeen routes was announced in the Interim Railway Budget.

Oneworld News: SatyamevJayate – Behind The Scene of Police

Here police works for the one who has power but not for the public.”

After talking about a sensitive topic like sexual crimes against women in
last episode, this time Aamir Khan has tried to bring out the reasons
behind non-working Police. For the very first time, Indian audience has
put themselves in the shoes of Policemen, and realised that how hard
their job is. No, we aren’t talking about desh ki raksha and stuff like
that. But if you have missed the show then you must know what we are
talking about here:

State of police and police chowkee/station:

A police station is given only 150 litres of diesel for a month and if it
gets over then the payment for the diesel comes from the pocket of
constable, this is one of the reasons why police arrives late at crime
spot. Plus, the funds given by the government to most of the stations is
so low that a lot of stations cannot pay their electricity bill,
telephone bill due to which they do not get reports of crime. Aamir Khan
also shared one of his experiences with a constable- while shooting for
‘Sarfarosh’ that how constables have to pay money to draw out dead body
from water, get it admitted to hospital for tests and if the body is
not recognised by anyone then the cremation charges are also on their
heads. Many constables are forced by their higher
officials, to collect money from general public and sometimes to meet
their personal necessities they take this step.

Role of Politician:

Police are being used by Politian’s for their personal use. As policemen’s
salary is just a little better than a construction-labourer, they
literally have to do chaaplusee of Politicians to be paid extra or for
quick promotions. And it is also very shocking to know that a lot of
policemen disappear from battalions as soon as they get through and most
of them are found washing dishes, clothes etc. at place of either their
superiors or some politicians. Talking about equality is so easy, but
implementing is not. Aamir spoke with Sir Peter Fahy, the Chief of
police in Manchester, United Kingdom about how officers rise in the
ranks. Fahy explained that every officer began as a constable to ensure
that there was greater understanding of the community they lived in and
serviced. This is starkly different when compared to India where there
are four different entry levels to the police thus leading to a divided
force, where one group will always feel superior or inferior to the
other. A plea was made to regularise the system so that all officers
gained an equal chance to thrive within the system. Some politicians
also want to come into power to dominate the police. Long-time back
Supreme Court took initiative to make a body that would rank police
according to their work, but hardly this has been implemented by the
states of our country. Even data of crimes in states is misleading
because a lot of states do not write reports/FIRs to look as the
least-crime state.

Looking at the above said points it is sure something has to be done. But how
and what, that is unknown. This dilemma was answered by an IPS officer
from Kerala, who took initiative to make friendly relations between the
public and police. He suggested that it is necessary to introduce shifts
system in Police job; policemen should have the right to take leave
when necessary, no pressure from higher authority and so on. The change
has started somewhere, now it depends when it would get viral to other
states, but hopefully it starts very soon.

BJP And AAP Take Election Fight To The Streets

BJP And AAP Take Election Fight To The Streets

2014 Lok Sabha election campaign just got
dirtier and murkier. There has been a series of confrontations and
violent clashes in the past two days between the agitated workers of
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)

Arvind
Kejriwal, who is on a four-day election tour of Gujarat, was booked for
violating the election code of conduct. The Election Commission said
that Kejriwal violated the code of conduct by not taking police
permission for his road-show. Also, an FIR was filed against the AAP
leader after he used loudspeakers and microphones without due
permission. AAP has complained to the Election Commission that it is
being targeted by the BJP in Gujarat.

Kejriwal

was detained briefly by the Gujarat police, which triggered street
battles in Delhi and Lucknow. AAP party workers gathered at BJP offices
to protest. Video footages showed the BJP and AAP party workers using
stones, chairs and lathis to attack each other.

Prominent

AAP leaders like Ashutosh and Shazia Ilmi were booked for rioting and
14 AAP workers were arrested. The police has blamed AAP for instigating
violence, an accusation that the party has rejected.
